The Colorado trail

My friend Samantha, Is off hiking the Colorado trail. I do not know much about it except that she will be gone until the beginning of August, I think it is, and she’s doing 10 – 15 miles a day. 

I really admire her ambition, and if anybody that I know could do it, it’s her. Her hubby could do it too. He’s training for a 100 mile run. I’m jealous that she can afford to take all that time off for this adventure. 

She asked me to meet her for part of it. I’m not exactly a hiker but this would be different. This isn’t hiking two or three miles around a lake with the world still near by. This is getting away from the world, or at least the industrialized world, and, wait for the cliche, communing with nature. 

There’s a big part of me that would really love to go. I don’t have the equipment and the logistics are just too much for my brain to handle. It would have to be a long weekend because I couldn’t take that much time off from work. And getting back and forth would take up a lot of time. 

Definitely thought about it though. If I could take off a whole week I would do it. Plus, I haven’t seen her since 2000, and it would be great to reconnect, and get out of my head. 

Going to see Mike in LA next month, not exactly nature, but at least I’ll be out of the house. 

The trail will have to wait.
